East Coast Ghillies Guiding does not run casting clinics, spey claves, or fly colleges. However, we do know our business and are happy to provide fly fishing lessons and consultation to beginners and experts alike. If you are a novice, we can help you learn how to set-up and cast a fly rod.
Have a new rig that just doesn't seem to work? Spend an hour or two with your ghillie and we can hopefully get things back on track. We can provide technical assistance as well as experimentation with alternate gear.
Take the two-handed rod that you bought with the most sincere of intentions out of the closet and get it back on the water. Far too many switch and spey rods end up in the St. John's classifieds or on auction sites simply because people weren't given proper instruction, or worse yet, were given misleading directions or incorrect line recommendations by the people who sold them. All of the guides at East Coast Ghillies are experienced spey casters and versed in scandi, skagit, and other modern sustained-anchor casting methods. We can instruct your technique or help you re-match your line and reconfigure your tips/leader to get your rod singing.
From nymphing, to dead-drifting, to single-hand spey casting, let us help you expand and diversify your approaches for trout and salmon .
$40/hour per angler for beginner lessons.
$50/hour per angler for two-handed or advanced lessons.
You may rent waders and a rod for a lesson for $30.

Thanks to everyone who made 2024 the busiest year yet for the Ghillies. We'll be back in 2025 and ready to organize day-trips for Atlantic salmon, sea-trout, or trout. We are also planning more foraging excursions and camping and fishing over-nighters.
